Race Update for 2014:
Unfortuneately there will be no races this year. The society and the trails are being re-vamped and hope to be ready for a bigger and better event in January 2015. We appreciate all the support over the years and look forward to that continued spirit in the days ahead.
As always, your comments and advice are more than welcome to help us improve on our event. Please pass the word along that the
2014 race will not be taking place, but that we fully intend to host the event again in 2015.
Thank you and good luck to all you in your journey along the up coming circuit. We'll miss you, but look forward to seeing you in 2015!
Trail Update, February 3, 2013:
The new trail is in and has been groomed several times, with one more grooming to be done prior to race dates. We have had warmer temperatures the last few days, but it cools right down in the evening. The groomer was on the trail yesterday and reports are that the trail is in great shape. The only traffic the trail sees is some snowmobile and sled dog traffic, there is no vehicle access, nor are they logging over on that side. The race trail will start at the Round Prairie staging area (6km north of Elkford) and run 5 miles (8km) one way and then back on the same trail. The trail is made on the road that leads up to the Elk Lakes Provincial Park, and so is wide enough to accommodate head on passing. All races will take place on the same trail with the turnarounds at the appropriate mileage for each class. As was evident with the previous location, there is some hills, winding roads and of course beautiful scenery. We are working on creating a more detailed map, but for now this will give you an idea of the trail. TRAIL MAP (click to view) REVISED. As there is only one way in and out of the staging area, we would ask that you try to be in the parking lot prior to the first race time. The schedule can be viewed on the SCHEDULE tab of this website, which also shows the estimated purse break down.
We would like to encourage you to submit your entry via this website, as soon as possible, so that we can complete the race schedule and the bib draw to be done Thursday, February 7th. If you had registered for the previous date, just a quick email or phone call letting us know you will be participating at the February date would be greatly appreciated. Look forward to seeing you all here!
